Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

2010 Cabernet Sauvignon

Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Columbia Valley, Washington

The 2010 vintage had a cool but consistent growing season. Those of us who were in the vineyards regularly and managed crop loads and yields were rewarded for our efforts. The cool temperatures really locked in great acidity at lower sugar levels for a classic balance, mouthfeel, and structure.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a great example. It carries aromas of dark fruit, black cherries, black currant, and cola. In the mouth, rich textures are woven with those dark fruit flavors as well as some vanilla, toasty oak, and mocha. The generous finish is reminiscent of a dark chocolate raspberry truffle. The wine is drinking nicely now, but will benefit from some cellar time.

Stephen Tanzer’s IWC Dec 2014 – 89 POINTS. “Bright dark red. Musky currant, dark cherry, pipe tobacco and spices on the nose. A suave, fine-grained midweight with dark fruit, herb and menthol flavors given shape by bright acidity. Ultimately suaver than the 2010 Claret, this varietally accurate cabernet finishes with a fine dusting of tannins, nicely integrated acidity and a faint repeating greenness.” — Stephen Tanzer
